Journey with her through story and song as she reflects on how the arts helped her survive mental illness — and slowly learn how to thrive.
DIRECTOR’s BIO:
Marisa Echeverria (director) has enjoyed a long career in developmental theater, as both an actor and director. Most recently, she remounted Ceiling in the Floor, a production she co-created, and directed A Lot of Livin’ at the Lineage Performing Arts Center. Marisa has developed new shows of her own, including There’s a Song for That, and It’s Complicated: Our Relationship with Musical Theater. Other directing projects include The Last Five Years, The Fantasticks, Lend Me A Tenor, and two short films.
As an actor, Marisa has appeared in shows and readings at many venues, including The Public Theater, Roundabout Theatre, Symphony Space, Intar, NAMT, NYMF, and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Marisa’s stand-out television roles include Violet Webster on Amazon’s acclaimed series, Goliath, and Gloria Hartman on John Wells’s Animal Kingdom. She’s also appeared on a long list of hit shows, including The Pitt, Matlock, The Morning Show, Sugar, Shameless, 9-1-1: Lone Star, Southland, The Mentalist, E.R., Rescue Me, and Law & Order.
