Auditions at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center

The Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center holds open auditions throughout the year for a variety of theatrical productions, including musicals, plays, youth theater, and special performance projects. We welcome performers of all backgrounds, ages, and experience levels to audition and be part of our vibrant artistic community.

Auditions are typically announced on our website, social media platforms, and through various casting websites. Each audition notice includes detailed information about roles, requirements, and how to prepare.

General Audition Guidelines:

Please bring a headshot and resume, if available.

  • Be prepared with a monologue and/or song, depending on the production.
  • Callbacks are usually scheduled shortly after initial auditions.
  • Some productions may require dance or movement auditions.
  • Whether you’re a seasoned performer or just starting out, we encourage you to audition and grow with us!

ROLES AVAILABLE: ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

ENSEMBLE - Male 
Villagers, Russian Soldiers, Bottle Dancers. Strong vocal and movement skills required. Some specialty dancing skills needed for certain characters.

  • Ages: 10 - 70's.

SVCAC seeks actors for their upcoming production of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. Online audition submissions will be accepted through  Saturday, April 18. In addition, in person auditions will be held on Saturday, April 18th from 1 - 5 pm at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center, 3050 East Los Angeles Ave, Simi Valley. Note: Anyone submitting an audition online does NOT need to attend open auditions.

Invitation-only Callbacks are scheduled for Monday, April 20 at 7pm at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center, 3050 East Los Angeles Ave, Simi Valley CA 93065

One of the most beloved musicals of all time, Fiddler on the Roof returns to the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center stage with its timeless tale of family, tradition, and resilience.  Featuring iconic songs like If I Were a Rich Man, Matchmaker, and Sunrise, Sunset, ten-time Tony Award winning musical Fiddler on the Roof has ensured a legacy as one of the most acclaimed musicals in the history of North American Theatre.

Below is a list of roles and additional info on each. ALL ROLES OPEN UNLESS NOTED BELOW.

In reference to the character descriptions that follow—most characters we encounter currently are on the binary and are written with he/him or she/her pronouns and you will see that in the following descriptions. But however limiting the descriptions are, our casting seeks to be as inclusive as possible and we invite gender non-conforming, gender-fluid, transgender and non-binary actors to submit for the roles they most identify with. The best actor will be cast, provided they agree to play the character’s gender truthfully and with integrity in accordance with the authors’ intent.

SVCAC is looking to cast understudies and/or swings for this production. Understudies/Swings cast from the ensemble could receive an additional nominal stipend. There will not be any guaranteed performances for Understudies or Swings.

Singing and dancing is required for all roles.  Choreography for this production will accommodate all abilities.

 

Rehearsals begin on/around Wednesday, April 22 (Sun.-Thurs. eve.; daytime on Sat.). Performances are scheduled to commence Saturday, May 30, 2026 and conclude Sunday, June 28, 2026. Performances will be Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm. Additional Saturday matinee performances are scheduled for June 20 and June 27 at 2pm. Additional performances may be added depending on cast / venue availability and ticket sales. All rehearsals and performances will take place at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center, 3050 East Los Angeles Ave., Simi Valley, CA.

THIS IS A NON-EQUITY PRODUCTION. A one-time stipend is available for all performers 18+ payable on a 1099-NEC Contractor Fee by the final performance. Separate stipends TBD for Understudies and/or Swings.
