Kick off your holiday season with a twist on a beloved holiday classic. It’s Christmas Eve 1949 and the live studio audience has arrived for WNBC’s annual Christmas Eve Radio Broadcast of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. When the previously announced star-studded cast is a sudden no show, WNBC General Manager has to scramble to gather a cast of anyone still left in the building – including a priest who hosts a local talk show and the plumber sent to fix some frozen pipes! Hilarity ensues as this ragtag group of radio amateurs battle missing script pages, bad accents, hilariously misplaced sound effects and other outlandish shenanigans in their struggle to make it to the end of the broadcast. But in the end, this merry band of misfits delivers one of the funniest and heartwarming renditions of Dickens’ iconic tale ever to go out over the airwaves.
