Young Artists Playground (YAP)

Inspiring Creativity.
Building Confidence.
Empowering Young Artists.

The Young Artists Playground (YAP) at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center is a dynamic youth arts education program dedicated to inspiring creativity, building confidence, and fostering a lifelong appreciation for the performing arts. Through summer theater camps, after-school programs, and school-based arts education, YAP provides young artists with opportunities to explore acting, singing, movement, and storytelling in a supportive and inclusive environment. Our programs encourage self-expression, collaboration, and personal growth while helping students develop valuable life skills through the magic of theater.

Discover the Magic of Live Theater!

An exciting, immersive theater experience for young artists ages 6–14! Students explore acting, singing, dancing, and stagecraft while building friendships, confidence, and performance skills. The program culminates in a fully staged theatrical production at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center.

Learn. Create. Perform.

Our weekly after-school program invites young artists ages 6–14 to explore theater through acting, improvisation, movement, and storytelling. Students develop creativity, communication, and teamwork skills while working together toward a final theatrical presentation for family and friends.

YAP IN THE CLASSROOM

Bringing Theater Education into Our Schools!

Expanding beyond the Cultural Arts Center stage, YAP now brings theater education directly into elementary schools. Designed for grades K–5 and aligned with California Theatre Arts Standards, this program uses interactive theater activities to inspire imagination, creative expression, confidence, and collaboration. With an emphasis on the creative process rather than a final performance, students discover the power of storytelling and self-expression.

At YAP, we believe every child has a creative voice worth celebrating. Whether on stage, after school,
or in the classroom, our goal is to inspire young artists to discover their potential and experience the joy of theater.
