VITAL SIGNS

By Jasmine Delgado

Exhibit Dates: March 27 - June 7

Opening Reception & Artist Talk:  March 27 from 5 PM to 7:30 PM

Artist Talk starts at 6 PM

Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, Jasmine spent a significant part of her life navigating the sub/urban Southern California landscape on foot or via public transportation. Guided by a deep nostalgia and longing to preserve these spaces and the memories they hold, she finds herself returning time and time again to record and preserve what remains. Bright mismatched logo signage, crowded window displays, busy sidewalks, hand-painted murals, and the web of power lines that frame the visual narrative of Los Angeles offer comfort in their layered complexity. Using ink, paper, thread, fabric, and collage, her work explores the beauty and contradictions of a constantly evolving layered landscape. She currently lives in Camarillo, California, and is an Associate Professor of Art at California State University, Channel Islands.
